The Game takes place between the X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand films. The story explains why Nightcrawler did not appear in the third movie. Players control three characters with different styles: Wolverine uses close combat with his claws, Nightcrawler can teleport and climb walls, and Iceman rides on an ice slide and shoots ice at enemies. The game has 28 missions that take players to places like Alkali Lake, Tokyo, and the X-Mansion. Each character has their own set of levels designed for their abilities.
